About
About me, and my co-authors, aka my amazing daughters—I'm their mom, I can be braggy ;)
About Torsha J Baker
To the utter frustration of her teachers, Torsha spent more time daydreaming than she did paying attention in school. As an adult, she decided to put her overactive imagination to use and create stories that took her from reality. Because, really, reality sucks sometimes and writing is cheaper than therapy. That was over fifteen years ago. Since then, she has written seven novels, and occasionally teaches classes at writing conferences. Torsha was also a member of the Ready Set Write Podcast, and a judge on the So You Think You Can Write Youtube channel. She lives in Queen Creek Arizona with her amazing husband, who doesn’t read but will happily act out romance scenes, their four awesome kids, and two high-maintenance fur babies who bark too much but give the best cuddles. When she’s not writing, she’s procrasti-baking French macarons with her business Ooh La La Macaron, is a voracious reader, loves to travel, and especially treasures spending time with family and friends. Her hope is that you will enjoy her words as much as she did writing them.
Meet My Co-authors!
When I first started writing books, I wanted to write characters that my daughters could see themselves in. My girls quickly became my biggest fans. As they got older, they turned into my beta readers, then my critique partners, and now that they’re adults, they've become my co-authors.
Meet Mikaela
Mikaela struggled with reading and writing when she was a child due to her learning disability for sight recognition. But her love of stories helped her to overcome the obstacles of her learning disability, now she reads two to three books a week and just completed her debut novel. In fact, her love of reading can oftentimes be the culprit of her walking into work as a zombie because, you know, just one more chapter. Mikaela lives in Arizona and works in the Queen Creek School District where she wrangles little ones who occasionally test the laws of human patience. Her writing career began when she was still in high school and her mother came to her for plotting help. It evolved from there when she realized she liked creating new worlds and complicated characters. Magic Cursed is her debut novel.
Meet Meilana
Meilana Baker is the main character of not only her story, but your story too. She’s a power lifting champion in her weight class (aka, she religiously goes to the gym). She is the best sales woman at the most prominent establishment in the United States (aka, she considers the Sweet Shoppe in downtown Flagstaff the most prominent establishment in the US). She balances volleyball and studies for college exams, at the same time (aka, she may or may not be reciting accounting definitions in her head during games). She is the most talented artist to grace Northern Arizona University (aka, her mom and grandma said they liked her drawings). She spends her free time traveling and learning what the world has to offer (aka, she watches A LOT of instagram travel reals). On the weekends she decides to drive home from college, she wrangles two unruly gremlins (aka, she loves to play with her dogs). She’s a New York Time’s Best selling author (okay, so this has yet to come to pass, but it will). Meilana uses her words to write both stories and poems, which allows her to express herself in a way reality doesn’t. Her debut novel, Daughter of Ku and Hina is scheduled for release next year (this is that best seller we talked about). She is currently working on her second book.
